“Women known for these acts” – lesbianism in halachah

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

The prohibition in the book of Leviticus against male homosexuality is well known and it is often assumed that the same laws apply equally to women. However, female homosexuality is not even mentioned in the Torah, and while it is discussed in later rabbinic sources, it is treated quite differently. In this session, we will explore how lesbian sexual activity is viewed in halachah and consider some radical changes happening in the contemporary Jewish world.
