A room full of Jews. A Jewish audience-member asks the Jewish presenter, "Can you tell us what the Palestinians are thinking?" The Jewish presenter replies with information she has heard from other Jews. Another audience member begins berating the presenter about a Palestinian policy. An event to express solidarity with Israel in light of the latest controversy. The organisers are Jewish. The speakers are Jewish. The attendees are Jewish. It is lauded as a success in the Jewish press. These scenes are very common - but are they what we want? Is the community effectively educating itself and promoting its cause? or is it simply deceiving itself? How much can we really learn or achieve through talking only to each other?
