History, memory and the meaning of things

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

The Hebrew word for memory, zakhor, is mentioned in the Bible over 150 times. Again and again we are impelled to remember – to seek connections with our past in order to construct our identities and give meaning to life in the present. In this session, we will consider the potential of objects – historical artefacts, artworks and the everyday things we surround ourselves with – to evoke, connect us with and even reinvent Jewish memory.
