Marcel Weyland

Marcel Weyland was born in Lodz, Poland, in 1927. He escaped in 1939 and after a period in a Japanese camp reached Sydney in 1946. Here he became an architect and lawyer and a translator of Polish poetry, with four volumes published. These include Echoes - Poems of the Holocaust and a bilingual anthology of W. Szlengek's verse, What I Read to the Dead. Marcel received the medal of the Order of Australia and, from the President of Poland, the Officer's Cross of the Order of Merit.
