Marilyn Immerman immigrated to Australia from South Africa with her husband, Hilton, in 1977. In 1981 she joined the staff of Moriah College High School as an English and History teacher. She was appointed Head of Jewish Studies, a position she held for 12 years. She taught mainly Jewish History and was responsible for creating the curricula for this as well as for a Year 11 course in Modern Israel Studies. She specialised in Holocaust History and accompanied a group of senior students on their trip to Germany and Poland in 2011. She recently resigned, after 33 years of service. She has two sons and a 2-year-old grandson, Oscar.
